[Xinjiang Shanshan Pumped Storage Power Station is about to start construction] From August 30th to 31st, 2023, a special report consultation on the feasibility study phase of the Shanshan Pumped Storage Power Station in Xinjiang was held in Urumqi, including a special report on the layout pattern of the hub, a special report on the selection of normal water storage levels, and a special report review meeting on the construction general layout planning. The power station is located in Shanshan County, Turpan City, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, with road mileage of 80km and 150km respectively from Shanshan County and Turpan City. The hub project mainly includes buildings such as the upper reservoir, water conveyance system, semi underground powerhouse, and ground switch station. The upper reservoir is dammed and expanded into a reservoir by constructing a wide and gentle channel on the left bank of the upstream river of the Ertanggou Reservoir; The lower water reservoir is dammed and expanded into a reservoir in the upstream channel of the Ertanggou Reservoir. Shanshan Pumped Storage Power Station is a key implementation project of the "Medium and Long Term Development Plan for Pumped Storage Energy (2021-2035)" during the 15th Five Year Plan period. The installed capacity of the power station is 1400MW, with a rated head of 602m and a distance to height ratio greater than 5. After the completion of the power station, it will undertake tasks such as peak shaving, valley filling, energy storage, frequency regulation, phase modulation, and emergency backup for the power system.
