  • [Austria OMV launches 140 MW green hydrogen project]
  • On October 7, 2025, Austrian Oil and Gas Group (OMV) announced the official launch of a 140 MW green hydrogen energy project construction. The project is scheduled to be put into operation by the end of 2027 and will become Austria's largest green hydrogen production facility, capable of producing up to 23000 tons of green hydrogen annually. This project will fully utilize renewable energy sources such as wind, solar, and hydropower as power sources. The hydrogen produced will be directly supplied to OMV's Schwechat Refinery to replace traditional natural gas hydrogen production processes and effectively reduce carbon emissions during the production process. At present, OMV has successfully operated a 10 MW green hydrogen pilot project in Austria, which uses proton exchange membrane electrolysis technology and will be officially put into operation in April 2025. The newly built 140 MW project will further enhance the company's production capacity in the green hydrogen field, provide a wider range of clean energy solutions for industrial processes such as refining, and promote Austria's energy transformation process.
